Situation

With QuickBooks Premier Accountant Edition 2008 you now have new functions in the Accountant's Copy. This functionality allows you to do more in the Accountant's Copy in 2007.

Clients using QuickBooks 2007 are limited on what they can import from the Accountant's Copy - as though the Accountant's Copy was prepared using Accountant's Copy in your 2007 Accountant's Copy.

Background

Clients using QuickBooks 2007 cannot import

  • Bank/Credit Card Account Reconciliation
  • Account Merge
  • Account Type change
  • Tax-line Mapping for Accounts
  • Edit or Void Deposits
  • Edit Items

Messages in QuickBooks identify when 2008 Accountant's Copy changes are being made against a client's QuickBooks 2007 file - in most cases.

One exception is Bank Reconciliations.

Response

Careful practitioners using the 2008 Accountant's Copy will be aware of the different import parameters between clients using QuickBooks 2008 and 2007, especially Bank Reconciliations.

  • Clients using QuickBooks 2007 will be importing all the changes available in the 2007 Accountant's Copy.
  • Clients using QuickBooks 2008 can import the additional changes now available in the 2008 Accountant's Copy.
