Test drives are available now at accountant.intuit.com. With a high-speed Internet connection, you can test drive the most recent version of QuickBooks Premier Accountant Edition 2007. Also we updated accountant.intuit.com with QuickBooks 2007 information. (1)

We know that pricing is one of the first questions you have when Intuit announces a new product release, so we wanted to share this information with you.

Timing and Availability

What's Available When. We know many of you are eager to see what's in store for QuickBooks 2007 financial software, and Intuit is now releasing information to accountants, bookkeepers, consultants, and related practitioners.

Announcements and Shipping Dates

Here are the most likely dates for releasing of information and many products.

  • September 14: We updated accountant.intuit.com with QuickBooks 2007 information.
  • September 23: General public announcements begin.
  • September 25: Most QuickBooks 2007 trials and products will now be available to order on the Web or by telephone. Also more detailed product information will be posted on www.quickbooks.com.
  • September 29: Follow-up information on QuickBooks 2007 in a second issue of Intuit ProConnection for September.
  • October 2: Some products will begin shipping. Intuit may employ more than one point of manufacturing, and actual ship dates may vary slightly. QuickBooks 2007 products may actually show up in some retail stores around this date.

Overview

Biggest Changes. Across the QuickBooks 2007 line, some of the most exciting changes come from your requests and show up dramatically in the Accountant Edition and QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll for Accountants.

On other fronts, beta testers tell us QuickBooks Point of Sale 6.0 is a significant revision with many important changes.

You will also see improvements on the client side. In most versions of QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Pro and QuickBooks Premier 2007, the carefully revised and improved EasyStep® start up interview simplifies clients’ setup and starts them on simplified industry-specific accounts, across QuickBooks Pro and Premier 2007 editions.


QuickBooks Premier Accountant Edition 2007

Accountant Edition 2007The new 2007 Accountant Edition will have, as in 2006, many specialized accounting and bookkeeping tools, and with the ability to toggle among the user interface of most other 2007 versions (of the desktop version of QuickBooks for the Windows operating system. In addition, look for

  • New data tools to help exchange and update client data.
  • More flexible Accountant’s Copy allows you to exchange, review and adjust transactions in the client’s prior period accounting – even while the clients continue working in their ongoing QuickBooks file.

QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll for Accountants 2007
(Requires QuickBooks 2007)

Enhanced Payroll for AccountantsThis product has now been tailored to meet the unique requirements of accountants performing payroll for clients:

  • NEW After-the-Fact Payroll. Requires QuickBooks 2007. Now you have an efficient method for entering payroll data from paychecks that clients have prepared themselves.
  • Simplified Data Entry. Enter after-the-fact payroll through one simple spreadsheet-style data entry screen. Customize the data entry columns so they match the sequence of data provided in your clients’ payroll data records.
  • Automatic Copying of Data. Data from the employee’s last paycheck can be automatically copied into the current period.
  • Error Identification. QuickBooks automatically identifies errors in gross-to-net calculations and in fixed percent withholdings, such as Social Security or Medicare.

Reports for Clients. Now you can prepare professional-looking reports to give to your clients – with just a few keystrokes.

QuickBooks Pro 2007

QuckBooks: Pro 2007Organize and complete everyday tasks – Clients can get organized and work more efficiently with their customers.

  • With QuickBooks Pro 2007, clients can get frequently entered business expenses automatically classified, which helps save time on data entry.
  • Download employee and contractor timesheets into QuickBooks – With new online timesheets from Time Tracker, send automatic email reminders, use new payroll tools such as easy scheduled payroll groups, and automate calculations. (3)
  • Collaborate easily and share data with others – With the QuickBooks Pro, Three User edition, clients can share data with others at the same time, and define the access levels by individual user. Your clients will have the flexibility to expand up to three users. They can buy up to two more licenses (only for Pro), and add more seats right in QuickBooks so they can give others access to company data.
  • More Ways to help your clients acquire customers – with Google Marketing Tools where you can list your business on Google Maps to reach new local customers looking for your business – Free. (4) Help local customers easily find your business online even if you don’t have a website. Advertise your business with Google AdWords®. Get started with $50 in Google AdWords credits. ( 5) Select search terms that relate to your business and easily create your advertising message. Show your ad to prospective customers looking for your services or products.

QuickBooks Pro for Mac 2007

Built for the Mac, QuickBooks Pro for Mac 2007 has many improvements, including

    QuickBooks  Pro for Mac
  • New Layout Designer to help improve the look of common forms. The tool lets clients customize forms, invoices, estimates, statements and more. (6) Built for the Mac, Layout Designer uses familiar tools like a formatting palette, drag-and-drop interface and an easy-to-use toolbar.
  • Ability to create and print deposit slips. (Deposit slips sold separately.) Manage deposits more effectively. Clients can select cash or checks to deposit, record cash-back transactions, and print either a deposit summary or slip from the printer.
  • Interactive Tutorial Center makes it simple to get started. The Tutorial Center ensures your clients will get the most out of QuickBooks. See how to complete everyday business tasks and understand how to use new features through simple, interactive step-by-step instructions.

QuickBooks Premier Edition

QuickBooks  PremierAgain this year, industry-specific editions are tailored to your clients’ particular business with business planning tools and other customized features. These editions include all the features of QuickBooks Pro plus planning and forecasting tools, and industry-specific functionality.

Clients can always access their financial data, even when not in the office with QuickBooks Remote Access powered by WebEx™. (7)

  • QuickBooks Premier Accountant Edition 2007.
  • QuickBooks Premier Contractor Edition 2007. (Now clients can track the expiration dates of their subcontractors’ workmen’s compensation and general liability insurance. alerts notify them when a subcontractor’s insurance has expired.)
  • QuickBooks Premier Manufacturing & Wholesale Edition 2007. (New unit of measure conversion prevents costly errors. Clients can now buy the same item in one unit of measure, stock it in another, and sell it in yet another. This helps prevent costly errors that occur when products are ordered in one unit of measure [example: pallets], then sold in another unit of measure [example: cases]. The feature enables clients to easily translate inventory from one unit of measure to another.)
  • QuickBooks Premier Professional Services Edition 2007.
  • QuickBooks Premier Retail Edition 2007.
  • QuickBooks Premier Nonprofit Edition 2007. (New donor contribution summary report lets clients can see a summary of their donor activity for a given period. then they can use this report to create year-end statements for their donors.)

QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 7.0

Improvements here include the capacity to add more data.

  • More entries; increased list limits. Clients can now add 100,000 or more inventory items, customers, and vendors, helping to remove limitations to your clients’ growth. (8)
  • QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions
  • Enhanced functionality for product-based clients. Clients can now apply different units of measure to their purchase orders and sales orders for the same item. (9) Plus they will also be able to see tools such as Available to Promise and Sales Order.
  • Fulfillment Worksheet in the sales units of measure they’ve assigned to an item, enabling your clients to fulfill in any given unit of measure.

QuickBooks Point of Sale 6.0

  • QuickBooks POSMultiple unit of measure tracking. Buy in one unit of measure, sell in another. Clients can now easily buy and sell items using different units of measure. They can set up multiple units of measure for an item, and Point of Sale will present the appropriate price/quantity at the appropriate time.
  • Historical inventory on hand. See inventory on hand at any given day. Simplify month-end (or period end) close. Easily view quantity on-hand and inventory valuation on any date chosen.
  • Auto-generated letters. Easily communicate with customers. QuickBooks Point of Sale now easily integrates with Microsoft Word (10), so clients can automatically generate letters (from standard and custom templates) that are tied to customer orders, former receipts, purchase orders, vendors, and more. Plus, they can send letters to a pre-defined set of customers (e.g., best customers, or customers who order large quantities).
  • Time cards for tracking hours worked. Now it’s easy for your clients to keep track of employee hours. With our new time card, when employees “clock in/out”, they can review and edit the hours worked right in QuickBooks Point of Sale.
  • Item ratings and trends. Helps your clients see which items currently have the highest sales, and whether or not an item’s sales have been increasing or decreasing over time.

Free Starter Edition for Entry Level Clients

QuickBooks Simple Start Free StarterQuickBooks Simple Start Free Starter Edition 2007 now takes the place of the former New Business Starter Kit. Use the Free Starter Edition especially for helping clients get started with financial software.

This fully functional Simple Start Free Starter Edition allows your clients to enter a combined maximum of 20 customers or vendors. If your clients reach this limit, they can upgrade to a full version of Simple Start, or any other edition of QuickBooks with no limitations.

New in the QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program

QuickBooks ProAdvisor ProgramWith more tools to market yourself and grow your practice -- and more training and certifications to distinguish yourself -- the QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program gives you more reasons to take a closer look.

New ProAdvisors and ProAdvisors renewing their membership will now be able to customize their program, with the options of Enhanced Payroll for Accountants and the A la Carte Menu items. ProAdvisors can choose up to five such items at $99 each -- including additional, not-for-resale licenses of Accountant Edition 2007. (11)
