TIME-SENSITIVE (Nov. 7, 2007). QuickBooks 2008 has many new improvements, including a revamped in-product experience that will allow QuickBooks Payroll customers to use their payroll subscription without any interruption in service. By maintaining the up-to-date customer information required for subscription renewal, you and your clients will continue to receive accurate tax tables, paycheck calculations, and payroll tax forms.
The improvements coming in QuickBooks 2008 should prevent unnecessary lapses or interruptions to payroll service, and will ensure that you and your clients remain compliant with up-to-date payroll tax tables.
For Clients Not on QuickBooks 2008
For your clients not on QuickBooks 2008, you may want to make sure they realize what they need to do to make sure their service remains valid in 2008.
The current 2007 tax tables for Payroll will be expiring at the end of December, and if users do not download the new tax tables (in-product), then their payroll will stop working correctly.
Currently, when these services lapse due to incorrect or incomplete billing information, a customer can be caught unaware that their subscription has expired. If that occurs and the business continues to process payroll with outdated tax tables, that business may no longer be in compliance with government regulations. This can lead to time-consuming payroll mistakes that you as the accountant may have to identify and correct on behalf of your clients.
Check in with Clients
For your clients using QuickBooks Payroll services with QuickBooks 2007 and earlier, a gentle reminder may help avoid errors in 2008.
Dear Client,
The current 2007 tax tables for your QuickBooks Payroll will be expiring at the end of December. You may have already renewed your service, but please check to make sure that you have downloaded the new tax tables. The tax table download is something you do from inside the product. If your business processes payroll with outdated tax tables, you may no longer be in compliance with government regulations. Please let us know if you have any questions about this yearly occurrence.
