Running EasyACCT on Windows Vista

Will prior year EasyACCT programs run on Vista?

Versions prior to the 2007/2008 release of EasyACCT are not designed to run on Vista and will not be supported. However, they have the best chance of normal operation under the following conditions:

  • Install the product while logged in as an Administrator.
  • Run the program while logged in as an Administrator.
  • Right-click the executable (EZACCTW.EXE) or the program short cut and choose "Run as Administrator".

Will the 2007/2008 EasyACCT program work with ALL versions of Vista?

We are testing the 2007/2008 EasyACCT programs on Windows Vista and we are confident they will run on all versions of Windows Vista. This includes EasyACCT Professional Series, EasyACCT Business System and the EasyACCT Information Return System. EasyACCT software will not run properly when using a pre-release version of Windows Vista (Beta2, RC1, or RC2).

Can I run EasyACCT while signed in as a Standard User?

Yes, the 2007/2008 EasyACCT programs are designed to run as a Standard User. There are certain activities that must be performed by an Administrator. These activities include: installing, updating or uninstalling EasyACCT. If attempting to perform these activities while logged in as a Standard User, Vista will prompt for Administrator credentials.

How will I use my prior year programs?

If you use prior year EasyACCT programs, such as the 2006 Information Return System, we recommend keeping an XP (Pro or Home) Service Pack 2 or a Windows 2000 computer to run these programs optimally.

Are there any special requirements for installing EasyACCT on Vista machines in a network environment?

The 2007/2008 version of EasyACCT may be installed as a standalone program and data can be shared on a network drive. This is consistent with the current recommendation for network users.

Will hardware requirements change for Vista users?

There are minor differences in the Systems Requirements needed for Vista users, due to the greater resources needed by Microsoft Vista. Your computer will need to meet the Vista requirements for the edition you are running and 2007/2008 EasyACCT system requirements.

Why does my computer reboot during installation on my Vista machine?

Vista machines must reboot during installation so that network drives can be detected. This only occurs installing the 2007/2008 EasyACCT program for the first time. The installation will resume automatically.

*Note that if you logged in as a Standard User and entered Administrator credentials, you must manually restart the installation routine.

Why do I receive a message that Windows needs my permission to continue?

A Windows Security prompt is given whenever a task is performed that requires Administrator permissions. This message is given regardless of whether or not you are logged in as an Administrator because applications are run in Standard User mode until the program requires Administrative permissions to perform a function. If logged in as an Administrator, click Continue. If logged in as a Standard User, you must provide Administrative credentials to continue.

Why am I unable to transfer to QuickBooks 2008 on my Vista computer?

The 2008 QuickBooks transfer is currently not available on Vista machines. This feature should be available on the Internet Update scheduled during the week of December 17th.*

* Dates of availability are subject to change without notice.
